BIOGRAPHY
I am fortunate to live and work in Harbor Springs, MI. A lifelong resident of the state, I grew up in Northern Michigan on an inland lake, moved to Ann Arbor in the 1970’s and received my BFA from the University of Michigan in 1981.
My career began as a successful artist in porcelain ceramics, crafting sculptural pieces, wall hangings and vessels. My work has been shown in nearly 100 galleries and my unique custom installations are displayed in public and private collections throughout the United States and Canada.
Upon returning to live full time in Northern Michigan, I transitioned from clay work to acrylic painting and mixed media on canvas. Having grown up in the natural beauty of our area, I continue to be inspired by the many variations of light and the interactions it suggests as it touches the sky, water and land. My work captures the ever-changing natural backdrop of beauty with subtle details as a soothing moment in time. Portraying the vastness of the landscape with layered color washes and dramatic textures of detail in brushstrokes and mixed media, my paintings impart a sense of peace and calm to the viewer as they explore the many nuances in each piece.
